The table tennis ball is also referred to as a Ping-Pong ball. The inside of the ball is hollow. And as you already know, these balls are spherical. Table tennis balls are made of plastic. The plastic used may be non-celluloid or celluloid, a type of synthetic plastic that is flammable. Although balls made of non-celluloid material are preferred because they are less hazardous. The plastic balls, however, are slower and offer a lower level of spin, but they are more precise, have maximum stability, and are more rounded. In contrast to celluloid balls, which are always constructed with a seam, plastic balls can be made with or without one.

Table tennis balls are light in weight. The weight of a table tennis ball is usually 2.7 grams. That is 0.095 ounces. It is 50 millimeters in diameter. That would be 1.57 inches. Some balls are 40mm in diameter.

The 38 mm (1.5 inches) diameter balls, which were primarily used before the Sydney Olympics in 2000, are another common type of ball. Compared to 40 mm balls, these balls are faster and offer more spin. The ball might weigh anywhere from 2.67 g to 2.77 g. The heavier balls are faster and, in comparison, more stable.

According to the official standards, the balls should have a coefficient of restitution of 0.89 to 0.92 and should bounce 24 to 26 cm on a normal steel block when dropped from a height of 30.5 cm, which is 12 inches.

There are two colors available for each table tennis ball. Their outer surface is matte polished. Orange and white table tennis balls are available. The color of the table tennis table and whether or not the game is being played for the competition will eventually determine the color of the ball used in a match. For instance, white balls would be utilized if the table was blue. In practice games, orange table tennis balls are more frequently utilized.

There are different varieties of table tennis balls you can choose from. Novelty balls are suitable for children. They come in a variety of colors. Novelty balls are not suitable for tournaments or practice sessions. There are soft and hard novelty balls. There are table tennis balls that are specifically made for practice sessions. They tend to break when hit with a lot of force. Two-star balls are used in multi-ball practice, and in machines to improve performance.
